F-16A, AF-79-311, Edwards AFB

311-3(C).jpg

The subject airplane was photographed in May, 1995 at Edwards AFB, California and was used in the chase plane roll for numerous Edwards Air Force Base test projects. This single seat “A” model was subsequently retired in August, 1995 when the Air Force decided to exclusively use the twin seated “B” models for the Edwards chase plane role because the larger station wagon style cockpit of the “B” model F-16s accommodate substantially more test monitoring equipment than the single seat “A” models.

F-16s are manufactured by Lockheed.
