F-86, USAF 12897 (FU-897), “The Huff”

The subject airplane fought in the Korean War. F-86 and MiG-15 aircraft engaged in many dog fights in Korea and the nose art that was painted on the F-86 aircraft was interesting and unusual. The Huff was no exception with the dragon on the port side of the aircraft and the “Bill’s Baby” image on the starboard side.

Navy TV-2, BuNo 131816, National Museum of Naval Aviation

The TV-2 was the Navy version of the Airforce’s T-33B which was a two seat trainer derivative of the single seat P-80. Developed by the Air Force as the TF-80C trainer and produced as the T-33, the Navy began to procure production models of the new trainer aircraft in 1949. Designated TV-2 by the Navy, the two-seat Lockheed aircraft was to be used as advanced instrument trainers. In 1951 some were modified for guidance and control duties in connection with missile and target trials. In this capacity, some of the TV-2s were used as drones.
